Caroline and Shaun

POSTED IN General, Weddings January 12, 2014

Caroline and Shaun Pies were wed and celebrated in New Orleans Louisiana this past November at Latrobes on Royal street. I’ve known Caroline since I was a freshman in high school. Caroline moved to New Orleans in our mid twenties and this is were she found her future husband Shaun Pies. I met Shaun a 3 years ago when I was passing through New Orleans. I only got to spend a couple of hours with him but I could tell instantly that he and Caroline were a perfect match. He loves what I love about Caroline and that’s her spunk. She has such a zest for life and always is living in the present. These two threw one hell of a party. There were many guests that came in from out of town to be there for their big day. Caroline and Shaun are such an amazing couple and being in New Orleans just was the cherry on top.

One of the best experiences I have had this far in my career was shooting their 2nd line march. If you are not familiar with this New Orleans tradition let me explain. Following their ceremony the couple along with all their guests march around a couple of blocks following behind  the Treme Brass Band. While marching the guests wave handkerchiefs and the couple has traditional parasols. It was the perfect way to celebrate the exchange of their nuptials. I had the biggest smile on my face the whole time. People in the streets were stopping and cheering us on. It was amazing. Following their 2nd Line march, the widely known Kermit Ruffins and the BBQ Swingers played the whole evening during the reception.

I was lucky enough to get to shoot this wedding with two awesome fellow photographers. Andrew Williams and Dylan Hollingsworth. Dylan followed Shaun most of the day to get his side of the story while I captured Caroline’s. You should totally check out both of their work, they are pretty talented guys. However, the photos featured below are just my side of the story.

Thank you Shaun and Caroline for having us! It was such a great experience and I am pretty sure we all want you guys to get married all over again.

The best of 2013

It’s been a really great year for Cary Anne Photography. I am so so grateful for all of my clients this year. I feel honored to have been asked into the homes and lives of clients who hardly know me, to document some of their priceless moments. My work has taken me places I would have never imaged this year. My only hope is that it continues.  It was very hard to select some of my favorite moments and portraits from this year and I am sure that I am forgetting many. However, here are the ones that stood out in my mind. Please enjoy and thank you thank you thank you to all my clients, friends and family for supporting me, trusting me, and choosing me through this process. I have big plans for 2014 and I can’t wait to get out there and document it.
